Geofilter is a black mesh geotextile material, which is a new type of landfill filtration material produced from polymer materials such as polypropylene or polyethylene. It is mainly used for underground drainage filtration, surface infiltration filtration, and leachate filtration and collection in landfill sites.
The geotextile filter has good tensile strength, elongation, and bursting strength, ensuring that it can resist the local stress generated by the drainage layer of the landfill foundation. The geotextile filter has a simple pore structure and hydraulic performance, as well as a high proportion of porosity, which enables it to effectively filter leachate and prevent blockage of the drainage layer.
Geotextile filters have strong UV resistance, and when laid on the foundation of landfills, backfilling with garbage will not damage their strength. When constructing a landfill in an area with high groundwater levels, it is important to install an effective groundwater drainage system outside the isolation layer of the landfill foundation to ensure that groundwater does not exert pressure on the anti-seepage layer of the landfill foundation. If groundwater cannot be discharged from around the anti-seepage layer of the landfill in a timely manner, it will cause instability of the anti-seepage layer and the risk of leakage of garbage leachate.
The groundwater drainage system of the landfill site consists of an effective gravel drainage layer and a geotextile filter. The groundwater drainage layer spans the bottom of the landfill site and extends outward to intercept all groundwater flow on the slope. The thickness of the drainage layer and the materials used can make it easy for groundwater to flow to the drainage point without generating water pressure.
