Excavate the roadway to the desired elevation and fully compact the subgrade. Remove all air and tighten the soil completely to ensure stability.
Roll out the geotextile fabric on the compacted subgrade, ensuring it is free of wrinkles and folds. Follow the engineer's instructions for overlapping the fabric. If a stitch seam is required, Cherokee can pre-sew the fabric for you. Contact your Cherokee representative for pricing on factory seamed rolls in wider widths.
Stitch the fabric on the job site using a dual thread lock stitch to prevent it from unthreading. We offer equipment for purchase or rental to assist with the stitching process. The engineer may recommend a prayer seam, j-seam, or butterfly seam. In this example, we will be using a j-seam. It is recommended to do two stitches on each seam to ensure a secure installation.
Place the specified thickness of aggregate, ensuring that no equipment drives directly on the engineered fill. Allow the fill to reach full compaction before proceeding to the final step.
