Excavate the roadway to the desired elevation and fully compact the subgrade. Remove all air and tighten the soil completely.
Roll the geotextile fabric on the compacted subgrade, ensuring it is free of wrinkles and folds. Follow the engineer's instructions for overlapping the fabric. If a stitch seam is required, Cherokee can pre-sew the fabric for you. Contact your Cherokee representative for pricing on factory seamed rolls in wider widths.
Stitch the fabric on the job site using a dual thread lock stitch to prevent it from unthreading. Equipment for stitching is available for purchase or rental. The engineer may recommend a prayer seam, j-seam, or butterfly seam. In this example, we will be using a j-seam. It is recommended to do two stitches on each seam to prevent any failure during installation.
Place the aggregate to the specified thickness, ensuring that no equipment drives directly on the engineered fill. Make sure the fill has reached full compaction before proceeding to the final step.
