What is composite geomembrane?
Composite geomembrane (composite anti-seepage membrane) is divided into one fabric one membrane and two fabrics one membrane, with a width of 4-6 meters and a weight of 200-1500g/square meter. It has high physical and mechanical performance indicators such as tensile resistance, tear resistance, and bursting resistance. The product has high strength, good elongation performance, large deformation modulus, acid and alkali resistance, corrosion resistance, aging resistance, and good anti-seepage performance.
The contact surface between the composite geomembrane and the supporting material should be as smooth as possible to prevent the membrane from being punctured and losing its anti-seepage effect. Otherwise, a fine-grained cushion layer should be installed to protect the membrane from damage
According to the actual size, area, construction conditions, and construction capacity of the project, the width and length of the geotextile membrane are determined based on the principle of fewer joints during construction.
When the base layer is a concrete structure, it is advisable to choose long fibers that can be directly bonded to the cement base layer
In the application of anti-seepage treatment in highways, a cloth and a film with a thickness of 200-300g/m are generally used for anti-seepage treatment at the lower part of the middle divider
Composite membrane, composite geotextile, composite geotextile, composite anti-seepage membrane, composite waterproof fabric, and so on are just different names. In fact, they are all the same product, and composite membranes are widely used, including artificial lake composite membranes. Tunnel composite membrane, pool composite membrane, river composite membrane, ladder dam composite membrane, and so on.
What are the application areas of composite geomembranes?
1. Environmental protection and sanitation. It effectively solves the problem of environmental pollution caused by urban solid waste and can avoid continuous pollution to the environment.
2. Hydraulic engineering is used for dam foundation reinforcement, drainage plates for groundwater drainage, drainage and pressure reduction.
3. Various anti-seepage projects such as soft soil foundation reinforcement and drainage in municipal construction engineering
4. Petrochemical systems, anti-seepage of chemical wastewater tanks, anti-seepage of refinery wastewater tanks, anti-seepage and anti-corrosion of electroplating and pickling tanks, pipeline lining, etc.
5. Road traffic facilities, anti-seepage diversion reinforcement under ballast, anti-seepage reinforcement of culverts and tunnels, groundwater drainage and circuit moisture-proof protection.

Construction steps of composite geomembrane
1,The sand and gravel cushion layer shall be constructed according to the requirements of the drawings, with a filling thickness of 30cm. During the construction process, bulldozers and road rollers shall be used to level and compact the layer. It is strictly prohibited to have hard protrusions such as fragments and stones to prevent protrusions from piercing the composite geotextile membrane in the next step of construction.
2, The gravel cushion layer should be clean, dry, and have sufficient strength and wear resistance. Its particle shape should be free of soft stones and other impurities, and the particle size should be 20-50mm. The mud content should not exceed 10%
3, The compaction degree of the gravel cushion layer should reach the corresponding compaction degree of the roadbed filling, and the road arch should be reserved during the construction process, with a cross slope of 2%.
4, The composite geotextile membrane adopts two fabrics and one membrane, which should be laid outside the foot of the embankment slope. It should be laid on the flat lower bearing layer according to the full section width of the embankment bottom. When laying, it should be straightened and smooth, closely attached to the lower bearing layer, and there should be no distortion, wrinkles, or overlap. When paving on a slope, a certain degree of tightness should be maintained and can be controlled with U-shaped nails.
5, To ensure the integrity of the composite geomembrane used for on-site construction, the overlap method is used for connection, and the overlap length should be controlled within 30cm-90cm (50cm is appropriate). U-shaped nails are used for anchoring at the overlap (one every two meters). If any damage is found to the geomembrane during construction, it must be repaired immediately.
6, When stacking and on-site construction of composite geomembranes, it is advisable to avoid prolonged exposure and exposure to sunlight as much as possible to prevent their performance degradation.
7, After laying the geotextile membrane, fill the fill material within 48 hours to prevent aging from sunlight exposure. During filling, follow the principle of "first on both sides and then in the middle" symmetrically, and it is strictly prohibited to fill the middle of the embankment first.
8, The filling material should be soil that has been turned over and sun dried and can be directly rolled (as the first layer of soil on the geotextile cannot be turned over and sun dried with a Wuhua plow to avoid damaging the geotextile and affecting construction quality). It is not allowed to be directly unloaded on the geotextile, and must be unloaded on the already paved soil surface. The unloading height should not exceed 1 meter, and the soil should be gradually leveled with a bulldozer.
9, All vehicles and construction machinery are not allowed to walk directly on the laid geotextile.
10, On site technology should be well controlled throughout the entire process, and the construction of geomembranes should be highly valued to ensure the quality of on-site construction.
