Composite geomembrane is an impermeable material composed of geotextiles and geomembranes. It is mainly used for anti-seepage. Composite geomembranes are divided into one fabric one membrane and two fabrics one membrane, with a width of 4-6 meters and a weight of 200-1500g/m2. They have high physical and mechanical performance indicators such as tensile strength, tear resistance, and top breaking, and can meet the needs of civil engineering such as water conservancy, municipal engineering, construction, transportation, subway, and tunnel. Due to the use of polymer materials and the addition of anti-aging agents in the production process, it can be used in unconventional temperature environments.Composite geomembrane is widely used in canal anti-seepage engineering. In recent years, the extensive application and effectiveness of geosynthetics in civil engineering, especially in flood control and emergency engineering, have attracted high attention from engineering and technical personnel. For the application technology of geosynthetic materials, the country has put forward normative technical requirements from aspects such as anti-seepage, filtration, drainage, reinforcement, and protection, greatly accelerating the promotion and application of new materials. This material has been widely used in the anti-seepage engineering of irrigation channels. 1. Foundation treatment: Clean the surface of the geotextile membrane, ensuring that the substrate is flat, the soil is solid, and there are no unevenness, cracks, sharp objects, stones, iron wires, wooden sticks, etc. Within the anti-seepage range, the grass and tree roots should be removed, and weed control agents should be sprayed.

On the contact surface with the membrane, a layer of sand or clay with small particle size should be laid as a protective layer, and the thickness of the protective layer should not be less than 30 cm.

Laying method:

1. Lay in a certain direction, but do not pull too tightly. Leave a certain amount of expansion and contraction to adapt to the deformation of the substrate.

2. A PE film with a certain width reserved on both sides of the geotextile and a non adhesive layer of PET fabric (i.e. edge throwing) should be laid. When laying, the direction of each unit of geotextile should be adjusted to facilitate the welding of the two unit geotextiles

3. After laying the geomembrane, it should be pressed with a sandbag to prevent wind and sand from affecting the welding of the edge of the geomembrane in the next step

4. Geomembrane welding. Joint treatment is a key construction procedure, usually using hot welding method. The surface of the PE film is heated to melt, and then fused into a whole through pressure

5. For the laid geomembrane, the edge joints must be free of oil, water, dust, etc

6. Before welding, adjust the two sides of the PE single film at the joint to overlap a certain width, which is generally 6-8 cm and flat without wrinkles

7. Use a dedicated welding machine for welding
