Plastic geogrid is a polymer mesh material with square or rectangular shapes formed by stretching, which can be either unidirectional or biaxial depending on the direction of stretching during manufacturing. It is punched on polymer sheets (mostly made of polypropylene or high-density polyethylene) that have been extruded, and then subjected to directional stretching under heating conditions. Unidirectional stretching grids are only made by stretching along the length direction of the sheet, while biaxial stretching grids are made by continuing to stretch the unidirectional stretching grid in the direction perpendicular to its length.
Due to the rearrangement and orientation of polymer polymers during the heating and elongation process in the manufacturing of plastic geogrids, the bonding force between molecular chains is strengthened, achieving the goal of improving their strength. 1. Selection of fillers: Fillers should be selected according to design requirements. Practice has proven that except for frozen soil, swamp soil, household waste, chalk soil, and diatomaceous earth, they can all be used as fillers. However, gravel soil and sand soil have stable mechanical properties and are less affected by water content, so they should be prioritized for selection. The particle size of the filler shall not exceed 15cm, and attention shall be paid to controlling the grading of the filler to ensure the compaction weight.

During rolling, the roller should not directly contact the reinforcement material, and vehicles are generally not allowed to drive on uncompacted reinforcement materials to avoid displacement of the reinforcement material. The compaction degree of each layer is 20-30cm. The compaction degree must meet the design requirements, which is also the key to the success or failure of reinforced soil engineering.
3. Construction site: It is required to be compacted, level, and remove sharp protrusions.
4. Grid laying: On a flat and compacted site, the main force direction (longitudinal) of the installed grid should be perpendicular to the axis of the embankment, and the laying should be flat, without wrinkles, and as tight as possible. Fixed with nails and soil and rock pressure, the main force direction of the laid grid should be the full length without joints. The connection between the amplitudes can be manually tied and overlapped, and the overlap width should not be less than 10cm. If the grid is installed on more than two layers, the gaps between layers should be staggered. After laying a large area, the overall flatness should be adjusted. After filling a layer of soil, before rolling, the grid should be tightened again manually or with machinery, with even force, so that the grid is in a straight and stressed state in the soil.
5. Waterproof and drainage measures: In reinforced soil engineering, it is necessary to ensure proper drainage treatment inside and outside the wall; To do well in foot protection and erosion prevention; Filter and drainage measures should be installed inside the soil, and if necessary, geotextiles should be installed.
